I have a 95 GT celica. I have been having a hard time getting the car into second gear when I downshift. It gets stuck and I have to downshift into second and I have to "force it" it also grinds sometimes when I downshift into 4th. The car has 186k on it. I was thinking about changing the tranny fluid does anyone have any recommendations on the best type of tranny fluid?

Other issues are clutch master cylender and shifter cables.

Especially since your having problems with the down gears, theres 2 cables one is for the left to right motion the other is for the up and down motion, the up and down cable, when you pull the shifter to the down gears, the shifter pushes an inner wire towards the gearbox, that wire may be on its way out. When theres no way for it to push 2, 4 and R become very hard to select.

You may also be grinding because of a problem with your clutch master cylender not being able to properly send enough fluid to disengage the clutch. so 1. check your fluid, bleed if necessary and 2. you may need to adjust the push rod.

I'm not saying overlook the tranny fluid, but check these out as well.
