Ok so i had a quick question, when my engine is cold, and i make a full turn, i hear a shuddering sound and i feel it in my steering wheel.
But the funny thing is when my car is warmed up no sound whatsoever. now, there's a slight leak in my rack and pinion, so that might be it, but my mechanic friend seems to think that my power steering belt might be on too tight which might explain why it only happens when its cold. so thats my conundrum. any explanations? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks |

Yup, that's probably it. I think my belt is on too tight and when my engine is cold, it whines when I turn the wheel. (Only when it's below 65 degrees or so outside, it never does it in the summer). and I have no leaks in my rack & pinion.
I just attribute it to rubber being hard and compressing when it's cold. So when it warms up and expands, it grips better and the whine goes away. I might be wrong, but that's been my logic for a while. This post has been edited by HectortheRican: Feb 21, 2011 - 9:01 AM -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09
