Hey, I have a problem with the 3s-gte in my celica. I did the swap from the 2.2 a few years ago and it ran fine for a few years. Recently it overheats with I get on the highway. I've tried alot of the basic stuff so far, but no luck. Changed the thermostat, did an engine flush, and I threw on the radiator and fan assembly I had leftover from the swap. Seems to be a flow issue, but cant figure it out. The engine temp will shoot up and the heater cools down and when I downshift, the temp drops followed by hot air from the heater. The system has pressure, and the radiator cap is good. All the hoses seem to be in good order, and when I did the flush everything that came out looked clean. Any ideas?

did you bleed out the system when you did coolant? might be air bubbles in the system ya i did its a long shot, but maybe the water pump is not pushing well enough. try changing that. do you hear a water sound in the heater core whe you step on the gas. i'm not too sure, wasn't listening for that though. I'll check that out, see if hear anything. Any reason the water pump wouldn't push water well enough? |
