It only happens when it's really cold out (<35F or so). It'll "squeal" for about 2-3 seconds, and then die down (unless it's ridiculously cold, and then it'll slowly die down over 5-10 seconds). The tightness is gone after driving for 1/8 mile or so.
Could it be any other part of the power steering system, or just pump showing its age (at 182k miles right now, and I don't think it's ever been changed)? And if it's the pump, should I change it now, or wait 'til it gets worse? This post has been edited by Rider: Mar 1, 2011 - 2:47 PM |

wow, thanks culp! incidentally i have been having the same exact problem but a little worse (with my daily driver 95 talon) i was pretty sure it was the belts, & this confirmed it!
