2.2 ( GT ) knock sensor will work, but your engine wont have the same power as with a 3rd gen knock sensor.
when people say, the 3rd gen has an aggresive tuning, it's because the knock sensor is slightly less sensitive than other engines, so it allows the engine to run higher timing, with a 2.2 ( GT) knock sensor you'll be running slightless less timing, which means less power, but also safer setup. I'm not discouraging you from using one, just making you aware of the trade offs. --------------------  |
