 Engine locking up?, picking apart the pieces now |

Is there any reason why a 5sfe would just lock up while driving?
would it be the engine, or possibly the tranny? it's a 1997 5spd 5sfe, with 190k on it. im looking to see if it could be an easy turn around or not. help me out guys

while i was getting some parts off this car today, my buddy decided to pull the cap off the overflow bottle piece and he was like "oh, it uses the red coolant" then a few seconds later he was like "dude, this isn't red coolant mike, it's oil!" and i was like "WTF?!?, no way" and sure enough, it was oil.... so we ventured and took off the radiator cap, the sight we saw was not pretty at all. Oil, yes oil, was in the radiator, and it was almost overflowing with it. So I take a look around the block and notice something unusual around the oil filter. The block was partially cracked in 2 spot right below it. So that's how the story goes for now, but this thread will be updated with pictures once the block is torn into.
