Hey guys,
For almost 2 weeks now, my st205 has got a strange whistle when at idle. At first i thought it was a slippery belt, but that is certainly not the case. Then i thought it may be a vacuum leak, but boost is good all the way to red line and the whistle is only there when at negative vacuum. It occurs only after lets say 15 minutes or so and disappears when hitting the throttle a little. Could it be a bearing from the powersteering or aircon pump? It looks like the sound comes from that area. Any thoughts? -------------------- JDM ST205

Checked all the bearings of all pulleys, and it turned out te be the no.1 idler pulley. Although the timing belt was replaced by the previous owner, he did not replace the tensioner and the pulley. Is there possibility the idler pulley by itself can be replaced without tearing down half the engine? Anyone with a kind of how-to maybe?
