my car doesnt really have paint, i got it primered and never got the funds ready for real paint job.
after my engine replacement, i got alot of grease marks and 'black' marks on the front end of the car? how do i clean this, i tryed the ussual, car wash(es), alot of washing fluid, soap and dawn dishwasher even lol its not really comming off, i tried the concrete engine degreaser on some part it took it off, but then weakening the primer too, so i dont want to damage the 'paint' i already have on any suggestions? the place i got it primed is telling me to use wet sandpaper, i really dont wanna do that since its gonna take it off permanently? its PPG white primer if it makes a difference? -------------------- For Sale:OEM tail lights - make offer

Primer's designed to get paint to stick to it, so it's pretty porous and likes oils -- dish soap breaks down waxes and grease, which is why it's actually bad for paint (removes wax really well, but also pulls out a lot of the oil the paint needs to keep looking good).
Unfortunately, you are going to have a hard time removing grease from that primer. I'd suggest following up the dish detergent with a paint cleaner, and a sanding, as well as the suggested re-priming. |
