Hello all...
Obviously I'm new here, but I thought I'd start with a post about drag racing. I'm in the process of putting together an All Motor Street 6G Celica. I will also be competing in the NHRA Division 7 events that are local to me in SS/CS. The class index is 10.80 in the NHRA events meaning that it will require at least a 10.30 to qualify for a large national event! I'm sure eventually many of you will enjoy some of the pics that will surface of the car. Untill it's finished, it's best kept close to my chest. The car I'm going with is a '94... If you are interested in the All Motor Street class, there is a big event coming up at Old Bridge Raceway in Englishtown, Nj. on Oct 1-2. really? you plan on getting a 6GC in the low 10's? how about you pass over what you are smoking. I have been racing for years and its no easy feat getting in the 10 second club. the 6GC is heavy! and FWD!, you need some serious power and traction to get in that club. 700HP, E153, suspension, and good tires are a minimum.
just to give you a baseline, i race in the IDRC every event at Fontana. sometime in the Supra and sometimes in my 7GC. my 7GC is making 550 to the wheels and on MT Street radials i ran a 12.0 @ 124 MPH. -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

Pretty much this. With 550 rwhp, even if you cut slicked rwd 60' times you still only have the MPH for probably low 11's, maybe high 10's if you're an awesome driver. Usuall in my experience you need to push the upper 120's to get anywhere into the mid 10's. I looked at a bunch of pics.... they all have something in common, they all weight about 1000 lbs less than a 6gc.
