Hello fellow 6GC'ers,
I tried searching for the answer to this, but I guess I either am the first person to ask this or I just suck at research. I have a 94 GT with a 3rd gen 3SGTE swap in it. I currently have my boost turned down to about 8lbs. Before I get into the problems I have, I just wanted to know if the 3S needs a fuel cut or not? Also, if it does, is it the 4 wire or 5 wire one? Please let me know as soon as you can. Ok, the reason why I have my boost turned down is because when I have the boost set to stock (14lbs), I get a sputtering, as if the car is struggling to pull whenever the boost hits a little less than 1 bar or higher. Please let me know if this could be because of not having a fuel cut installed or if it could be something else. I already put in new cap, rotor, plugs, wires because I thought it was my ignition system. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I also have a AFC Neo hooked up to the car as well if that changes anything. -Thanks, Ryan |

This is all very interesting, turns out i have a 94 GT that has a 3rd gen 3sgte as well, that i installed and had up n running this last may, the thing SNORTS!! for some reason though, since the first drive, the boost is at 18lbs.....was i supposed to adjust something to turn it down?? if so where is the stock boost controller to turn it down. I was under the impression that if these things overboost, there is the wastegate at the downpipe that opens to let excess boost by, so as to not have to much boost... i have hit fuel cut twice, at around 20psi.....no pinging or anything, and its bloody scary being front wheel drive n all,
I am getting off topic, I to am expieriencing strange hesitation as soon as i get above 4500rpm, its always been there since start-up, i can still take 09 subaru WRX's no problem, and actually pull away from them....But it feels like theres more there that is not getting uncorked, from reading what you guys are talking about, i remember i do have a new fuel filter, but its for the GT model (5sfe), my cap, rotor, plugs and wires are all new, and i have the walbro 255 pump, i wonder if the filter could be my problem because it is originally for the 5s, is there a difference??? does the fuel filter for the 3rd 3sgte have more flow?? as well, just recently started having sputtering at high rpms, you can hear it out of the exhaust....any info would be awesome! thanks |

But I think I know the solution to your problem. One of your vacuum lines (I think the one running to your actuator) is not hooked up and/or leaking. This is what controls how much boost you run. If there's no line hooked up to your actuator, then this means your actuator is opening fully which is very bad. Make sure your lines are good. I'm pretty sure this is your problem, if not, you might have a more complex problem on your hands. Which, hopefully, one of the more knowledgeable 6GC members could help you with. -Ryan |
