Hello fellow 6GC'ers,
I tried searching for the answer to this, but I guess I either am the first person to ask this or I just suck at research. I have a 94 GT with a 3rd gen 3SGTE swap in it. I currently have my boost turned down to about 8lbs. Before I get into the problems I have, I just wanted to know if the 3S needs a fuel cut or not? Also, if it does, is it the 4 wire or 5 wire one? Please let me know as soon as you can. Ok, the reason why I have my boost turned down is because when I have the boost set to stock (14lbs), I get a sputtering, as if the car is struggling to pull whenever the boost hits a little less than 1 bar or higher. Please let me know if this could be because of not having a fuel cut installed or if it could be something else. I already put in new cap, rotor, plugs, wires because I thought it was my ignition system. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I also have a AFC Neo hooked up to the car as well if that changes anything. -Thanks, Ryan |

yes injection...it could b a fuel problem. I understand that u have 2 problems right? 1-u r overboosting...2-ur getting strange hesitations at around 4500 rpm?
Normally when u overboost u meet fuel cuts. But if someone runs more boost than stock boost he might lack fuel pressure, which means the engine might run lean which can be disastrous for an engine. the more boost you input, the more fuel u will need. Running richer is always safer for an engine! make sure you r getting enough fuel pressure or reduce your boost pressure. How to reduce your boost? the best way is to get a boost controller. I personally use the Apexi AVC-R, which i think is very good as i can control my boost on all the gears. Double check that all your hoses are properly connected. make sure you are not bypassing the waster gate. There r two other hoses under the car, make sure they are well connected and not bypassed. Ryan...get the right fuel filter:) |
