hey guys im installing my short shifter today, im following twm's guide on how to do it,
only problem is im getting a little confused at step 12, plz click the link, and if you can help

If you don't have a vise, just use a pair of pliers. Be careful, though. You don't want to crush the cup. Pliers worked perfectly for me. And remember to grease the ball of the new shifter before you push the cup in!!

ok thanks i actually didnt get to that step, im having troubles getting the clip off with the exacto knife, i cant create a big enough gap
to get it off
its making me go crazy been at it for 40 mins now
