After 7 hours of racing, it looks like we broke the radiator cap, we thought nothing of it kept on. Whelp, we think the broken cap did not allow the the coolant system to be pressurized, all of the water steamed off, the coolant system dried out, at about 9:30 PM the engine over heated and stalled at about 90 mph on the back straight. We are pretty sure it fried the thermostat, pooched the head gasket, and god knows what else to the block....
Is it possible for a failed thermostat to destroy an engine !?!? stay posted... -------------------- -Mike

i imagine the bottom end will be relatively ok.
the head, on the other hand, would be cracked or warped i bet and yup... no pressure on the cooling system = evaporation -------------------- QUOTE "And, as always, your friendship, help, and dedication to the advancement of Texas Celica dominance is GREATLY appreciated.
