I know 205/55/15 is the stock size, but seems like tire shops never have them in stock, and forget finding a used one in a pinch. That and they are kinda pricey for a 15" tire.
Will a more commonly found 195/60/15 fit the stock 15x7 aluminum wheels? I've looked at the specs for different tires that size and 7" is an acceptable wheel width but it always listed as the maximum width. Just wanted to see if anyone else here had done this successfully. Thanks! |

the 195 is only 10 mm narrower then the stock celica tire. In other words less then half an inch.
the 195/60/15 tire has a 5mm difference in height also. So the difference in the over all tire would be 10mm in height. If you roll both tire standing up next to each other the celica tire would be less then half an inch taller. Would the tires fit? yes that would fit. Would you notice the difference? Most likely not. what are my recommendations? I like to keep with the original specs. But if small things like that dont bug you, and you dont mind having the wrong parts on your car for the next 5 years. Its okay to use that tire size. |
