so my car wouldnt go into 1st gear and i found out that my shifter cable broke, i swapped the 3rd gen 3sgte a couple years ago with the 5sfe tranny and i cant remember if the shifter cables were swapped as well with the old 90-93 shifter cables. can anyone clarify if i have to replace the shifter cables with the 90-93 5sfe celica? or can i just use the stock shifter cables, i hope someone can help. thanks

yeah the GT tranny uses stock (S54) Cables. the other option is the e153 cables, but those will only fit e153 trannys.

i assume the excessive heat caused by the motor/exhaust caused the cables to stretch and eventually break? same thing happened to me with my swapped (4th gen) a few years ago. the rubber had melted off the cables, and some strands of cable were broken. hope this helps! sorry for jackin the thread a bit -------------------- |
