Next year I'll be getting married and been looking into where to go on the honeymoon, as I am a big fan of the US I couldnt think of anywhere I would rather go. My initial thoughts were to go to Disney World its fun and easy, but then I thought its the UK summer holiday time for the schools so it will be busy and very expensive (UK travel agents triple the price of holidays during school holidays).
Does anyone have any other suggestions on where to go, both in the US and Canada. I used to live in LA so I would like to try somewhere different. I dont really have any criteria for what I want, dosnt have to be a park, could be anything Any help would be great Thanks -------------------- |

What I would highly suggest, fly into calgary, drive through the rockies, up through the high plains of central BC, out to the west coast, down the Sea to Ski highway to Vancouver, catch the ferry across to Nianmo, and make your way out to Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. If you want to experience pretty much everything Canada has to offer. I did this drive (minus vancouver island, did that about 2 months later) in about 4 days, stopping in a couple of nice small towns along the way. Stopped off in the middle of the Oakangan Valley, up through the mountains, spent a day in Whistler...amazingly beautiful, ever changing terrains. When I did it, it was May of last year and it was kinda crazy because we had weather that ranged from +20C the day we got into calgary, to -2C that night, to +38C two days later when we were up in Kamloops area, to -5C later in the day when we were up in the Mountains north of Whistler.
I would say come to Toronto if you like big cities, or if you really enjoy the outdoors, go head up ton Algonquin Park for a few days and go portaging. Canada has alot to offer, just our biggest issue is everything is so damn spread out. As for the US, I've only been along the US East Coast and things are pretty nice there. |

I took a trip up though Bonners Ferry Idaho making the loop you just mentioned to Vancouver Island absolutely magnificent scenery. As far as the states there is a small town in NE Oregon called Joseph, you can rent a cozy cabin at Wallowa Lake. You can rent boats,(paddle, row, or motor) go parasailing, ride the gondola all within walking distance of your cabin. There are muledeer around the camp area you can walk right up to even feed by hand. Hells Canyon recreation area is just a short drive, don't let the name fool you it is an amazing place. The drive from Joseph to Imnaha in Hells Canyon is awesome 30 miles over 100 corners barely any cars. Wallowa Lake, the cabins and campgound are direclty accoss the lake from this shot. ![]() Hells Canyon at night ![]() Up from Hells Canyon toward the lake and Eagle Cap Mountains at sunset
