I'm making this its own thread for search purposes, just another story of a clutch disc losing a spring on a 3SGTE swap with the S54 tranny.
The swap had 30k on it, I am unsure if the clutch was new when it was swapped or if it was used, but I'm assuming it was new. So 30k and dead... PICS: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you look up the name ASCO it directs you to Aisin which is the OEM manufacturer for Toyota Clutches. This tells me that a quality, performance clutch is necessary for a 3SGTE swapped with an s54. I know most people already know that, but I just wanted to add another story and some more proof to the argument. This post has been edited by jcbass7: Apr 28, 2012 - 5:23 PM |

ohhh crap...thats bad news.
that looks like a competion clutch disk, same hub as mine. ughh. did it damage the flywheel, jesse? ive seen it on quite a few diffrent brands, all off which have that same exact design for the spring retainers that break off and allow the spring to pop out. ACT, Spec, comp, all with the same result. i've switched over to recommending and installing clutchmasters setups with a unsprung disk. after installing a couple of them, ill never buy anything but a clutchmasters unsprung, you'd be amazed at the pedal feel and engagement of that clutch setup, jesse. pedal feel is definetly lighter than the comp, or act that i've had in the car before, and engagement is WAY better than the comp, and in fact almost as slippable as the act street disk i had before. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
