I have the 6 speaker stereo system and I want a little more bass. Just to get a full sound out of the audio. I was thinking of replacing either the door speakers or rear speakers with 8" subs but I'm afraid that I'll loose too much mid and high. Has anyone done this, and how does it sound?
And adding a sub and amp in the rear hatch isn't an option for me. I really don't like them taking up space or having to remove it if I need more room. -------------------- 99 Celica GT-S

For what it's worth, there was never an OEM sub offered for the Celica, so there would never have been an OEM sub amp. Also, the factory stuff might be old but it can still beat the hell out of low end aftermarket speakers. To look at the back of the stock amped speakers, you see "15w max." One member here (DEATH) once had his factory speakers amped to 250 watts with no issues. It's all really a matter of what you want and how far you want to go. Not saying that you should definitely keep them, but just passing along the information. I've always been fond of the OEM speakers as opposed to aftermarket speakers with no amp.
As far as mounting the speakers in the doors, it's very possible to mount them in your doors and make it look OEM. Check out njccmd2002- he's done it. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates.
