solid lifter engines like the 7A can be a little tappy. Try a little heavier weight oil if it bothers you. Also injector tick was VERY pronounced at idle, throw a towel over the injectors and listen again. If it is them and they bother you that much you can fashion a cover out of sheet metal and spray foam to cover them to help silence. ^ What he said. Put your ear right up to the injector bank and you can hear them well. This is allll good stuff and right. I had a valve adjustment done two years ago (before that, the ticking was insane) and afterwards, I could still hear a light ticking. It's just the injectors. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

Ticking can be annoying, but it isnt bad coming out of the cylinder head. Its knocking that you need to worry about if you hear it. Make sure there isnt an exhaust leak and check your valve clearances. Move your hand around close to the exhaust manifold where it bolts to the head. You will feel hot puffs of air if there is an exhaust leak. |
