So me and my friend had a stupid idea to try and color my valve cover. So after the deed was done we drove it from Garland to Dalllas and when we got to the destination the engine was smoking and we tried to put oil in again so we could get home. Then we got home it ran out of oil again. My question is, what happened to make it go like that? frown.gif

Actually rubber gaskets are usually reusable. Its cork gaskets which swell and therefor must always be replaced.

Anyways Im headed to Longview this evening so I can stop and take a look at it if you shoot me a text before then. The number is (682)-560-5106 and my name is Edward. I'll probably take I-20 but 30 is on the way too.

rubber gaskets can be reused but it has to be in really good condition and sometimes the first install just destroys or smashes it too much to be reused. plus it cant be dry and crackly. but for me, personally i prefer a new one.

make sure you put FIPG/RTV on those humps before you put on the new gasket.
