Hello all, I recently got an ST205 clip for a swap this winter and obviously need a new tranny. My question: As someone who isn't going to be on a track, is LSD worth it? I don't plan on racing but will I still feel the power or is it worth the time it takes to try to hunt one of these E153 LSD tranny's down?
Thanks. |

Unless you regularly race the car, or like to launch hard a lot, the s54 is just fine,
In fact, in most cases while I'm driving, I prefer the shorter gearing of it over the e153. However, Like I said, if you like to launch the car hard, or race a lot, the e153 is the better choice, the axles hold up better, and with the LSD tracks much straighter under power. :::knocks on wood:: I've been running my stock tranny with my 3rd gen with no issues, and it held up thruout the old 5sfte days, when I beat on the car a lot more, and had more tq than I do now, its taken a beating at the track, held up to multiple hard launches on drag radials,(i ran a 13.6 @ 108mph with the stock tranny back in the 5sfte days) and still works perfectly. For every story like mime, you can also read one like camerons, (ted95) where one launch on the street, shears the axle at the hub where it goes into the tranny, (although I do believe that was an issue that was caused by the axle not being seated into the tranny properly.) So, its all up to you, and your budget at the end of the day. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
