Hello all, I recently got an ST205 clip for a swap this winter and obviously need a new tranny. My question: As someone who isn't going to be on a track, is LSD worth it? I don't plan on racing but will I still feel the power or is it worth the time it takes to try to hunt one of these E153 LSD tranny's down?

Thanks.

you can also read one like camerons, (ted95) where one launch on the street, shears the axle at the hub where it goes into the tranny, (although I do believe that was an issue that was caused by the axle not being seated into the tranny properly.)

I think you are correct about that, Manny. In order for a steal axle to experience enough torsion force to produce that type of deformation one side of the axle would have to remain stationary while the other (the transmission side) would have to produce a large amount of torque. Under normal conditions this would never be possible because the torque force produced by the transmission would make the tire loose traction before anything else happened. Therefore the steel would never experience enough torsion force to produce that kind of deformation.

its more then likely the reason for why it snapped. the shop down the road replaced a seal for me days be for on the same axle that snapped. one hard launch on the street for fun and it bucked once and snapped. guy swears it was in fine, but once swapped out the tranny and put in the new axle myself (seated correctly for sure) i havent had a problem since.. nor do i really launch my ride as much.. at all lol

only thing with the s54 tranny or non lsd tranny for that matter, you will have more torque steer. however with front poly sway bar bushings, st185 front endlinks and a 3point strut bar, the torque steer cuts down dramaticallyyy.. and is half more then half the price as an lsd trans when all said and done.
