Did an engine swap. Engine runs great, but trans wont go in gear. Yes, i double checked my linkage, its fine, moving as it should. Now what, ...troubleshooting ideas, please. Thanks, the ragin cajun. p.s. Its an auto trans.

I second the fluid level comment.

Did you put the torque converter bolts back in? Ive seen sillier mistakes before.

A test for you- check the fluid level on the dipstick with the engine OFF. Now check it with the engine running and the trans in park. Now check it with it in drive while running( be safe dont run yourself over!). The fluid should drop on the second two checks, if the fluid level is the same your trans fluid pump is shot. The pump and the torque converter would be the only reason I can think of why it wouldnt engage in any gear.

Duh, ...In all my getting I forgot the trans fluid. Ok, got the trans fluid in, now i have a new problem. Its turning over fine, but wont start. Btw, does anyone have a spare starter relay, i'm starting my car(or, I was) with a screwdriver,lol.
