My daughter called last week and said the car died. I pulled a code 14. Searched and found this could be the distributor or the igniter. Any ideas on how to test the igniter with a multimeter? Does it sound like I'm on the right track before I head to the junkyard? Cap/rotor, plugs and wires are approx. a year old. This is a '93 engine in a '95 (5SFE). It does look like the harness that plugs into the distributor might be loose because the previous owner broke the clip that retains the harness. That is the only issue I could find externally. I was able to get it started to get it home. It has an intermittent miss while cruising, but hasn't died again. It starts up fine every time. Any other tips are appreciated.
Edit: I have a code 12, not 14. I've been reading a lot and have my numbers crossed. This points toward the distributor then, right? This post has been edited by seanb: Aug 21, 2012 - 9:22 AM |
