(My buddy's car) the car is acting like the clutch isn't engaged. We press it but nothing happens. Never had a manual car of my own so no idea
I think it's the master cylinder because of a old thread I read err where jim(or manny I think) was talking about If the slave comes out when clutch pedal depressed and goes back in slowly it's the slave; if it doesn't move it's the master clutch cylinder. But then I don't think so cuz the pedal wasn't getting stuck before ever. It was workin fine before. Suddenly we were havin problem putting it in third, then we pulled over and shut it off, then realized the car wouldn't detect the clutch pedal being pressedbasically. I put it in gear, depressed the pedal and try to push it and the car doesn't move like its in gear(it's suppose to so that but not with the clutch pressed u know) the pedal itself feels wierd like it would press in really easily without resistance and also when we let go its gonna push back out fast http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab119/m...2A872E9DCBB.mp4 Is there any fluid I need to check? Your hydralic system is leaking somewhere, by the pictures it looks like your slave is blown. There should not be any fluid types around that area. If there are, it is going to be the clutch system fluid. If your trannie was leaking, it would be on the underside where the axles, or fill, drain plugs are.
That item floating in the master res doesn't look familiar to me..kind of odd. You need to find that leak, and replace it. The system itself isn't that intricate. There is the master, 4 hard lines, 1 soft line, and slave cylinder. I would start with the slave, and work my way up to the master repairing any leaks. Try to avoid tinkering with the hard lines unless you know it is leaking from there. Them being old, often are a pain to work on, and prone to break.
