I just bought a 3-spoke steering wheel from a 98 to put in my 96 (4-spoke). I went to my mechanic to get it installed (since I don't have a puller)... and he said swapping it will cause my airbag light to be on permanently. True or false? If so, will the airbag not work. If it won't... I'll be putting it up for sale.

I'm planning to swap to a 3-spoke some time in the future, also. There is a Toyota wiring adapter that will connect the 4-spoke column properly to the 3-spoke airbag. It is linked in this thread, midway down page 4. That whole thread is full of useful stuff, but I think this may be just what you're looking for.
...and ALWAYS disconnect the battery for at least a few minutes for airbag related shenanigans! This post has been edited by PaukST: Oct 20, 2012 - 3:40 PM -------------------- 1989 Celica ST Automatic "King Cobra" -- 2005-2006
