 Quick Ratio Steering Rack? |

Anyone ever heard of one for a 6th gen, or anyone ever try and make one using rack/pinion gear from another vehicle?

You will have bumpsteer issues if you put in a different geometry rack out of another vehicle.
I forgot the exact details but the tie-rod length has to be specifically proportional to the control arm length. If its too long or short the wheels will turn toe-in/toeout when you go over bumps(bumpsteer). The tierods must also be on a perfect axis with the roll-center of the suspension or some other suspension geometry point(I cant remember). This is one of those things where the oem manufacturer knew exactly what they were doing when they designed it and without proper schooling all any of us can do is guess. The idea of modifying the gear ratio of the rack and pinion gear sounds practical, maybe not cheap though. |
