 weird popcorn making sound, help |

Im driving to work and i noticed when i get near the end of my drive, theres a weird sound coming from the engine i think, its almost like popcorn making sound, little popping noises, when i opened the hood, i know the engine is cooling off and making noises but why would it make it while driving?
