4AGE vs. 3SGE, Asking for comparison... Options

Hey all. I'm looking into getting back into a 6th gen. For starters, I am trying to avoid getting a turbo engine, so I am trying to decide between the 20v blacktop and the 2nd gen 3SGE. Whether I go with the ST or the GT is really up to what I decide on for the swap. I'm mostly looking on advice as to how similarly these engines would perform. I know they're both rated at around 170hp, but the displacement difference has me wondering which would be better in which circumstances. I'm guessing the overall drivability of the 3sge is better, since it's more torquey. Drivability as in city traffic with lots of stopping and going. The celica seems kinda heavy to be putting a smaller displacement engine into, but I plan on removing as much weight from the car as possible. To that end, would the 4AGE be better on top speed, or the 3sge? On the same note, will the transmission that comes with the 20v fit directly onto the ST, or would there be modding involved?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, just trying to gather as much info as possible before jumping into a 6th gen. From what I've read so far, they're remarkably similar to the 5th gens, which is what I previously had. I'd mostly be using this car as a pleasure driver instead of a commuter, so yeah, I'm wondering which swap would feel/perform better if I was taking her out on the interstate. =D
