 5SFE Oil Pan Gasket, Gasket has held so far |

So I had to pull the oil pan about a month ago to retrieve a lost tool and took the major risk of using a cork oil pan gasket instead of FIPG. About a month later and apx 1000 miles and its still leak free. I used a LOT of permatex black on it(probably enough that I didnt need a gasket anyways) and it was a Fel-Pro gasket for I guess the 3s and earlier 5s motors. I pookied it and tightened it down, then the next day I cinched all the bolts down to the torque spec.
Just wanted to throw the information out here for yall that so far it has held(knock on wood). The second it leaks I'll be sure to post the apx miles and months it held.. |
