Hi -

I recently committed the cardinal sin of convertibles - putting the top up without rolling down the windows - and figured oh, it'll be fine...yeah, it wasn't. My 96 GT convertible's driver side rear window got knocked out of the track and won't go up anymore, though the motor's still trying. Took it in to a new shop near my house because I figured it'd be a pretty simple repair, hopefully just a realignment...but the mechanic hadn't called me back with an estimate until I called them. She said the motor regulator was shot, but Toyota had updated the part and the old motor doesn't work with the new regulator - so the entire thing would need replacing (for $700 in parts alone!). The mechanic said that they're trying some junkyards around here for the old part, didn't want to call me and tell me I'd need to pony up a thousand bucks just to roll up the damn window. Anyone know anything about this?

edit: whoops, should have put this in exteriors (found a topic on this there with the search, so I'm a double idiot). apologies. I did some more research and it looks like I could probably find the old regulator online, though all the talk on the regulator is from 1995 cars - same gen, so it'd still work, right?
