Alright guys, I've got a head scratcher...

96 5S Auto Vert.

Cranks, but won't start.

FUEL: CONFIRMED
SPARK: NONE
UPGRADED GROUNDS: COMPLETE
IGNITER: REPLACED
COIL: REPLACED
CRANK POSITION SENSOR: REPLACED
ECU: CHECKS OUT OK

The car was running fine with the occasional P1300 code on the first cold start of the day. Didn't affect drivability. We got some serious rain here this week, now the car will not run.

I've gone over this car top to bottom and cannot figure out why it won't start.

Now, if the car is cranked over, and the coil wire is pulled to check against ground, there is no spark. (I did the test all the way up to the coil itself to rule out wires)

YOUR CLUE:

With the key on, and all connectors plugged in, if the igniter is removed from it's bracket, it will arc like when the positive battery terminal is first connected.

If the coil connector is removed from the coil, the arcing will stop.

Last night, I got the car to run for about 15 seconds, as I was holding the igniter to one of the strut bolts to ground out the housing. After that, the igniter housing didn’t/wouldn’t arc anymore, nor could I get the car to run again.

I’m lost now. Help?
