And then went for an enthusiastic mountain drive on the way home from picking it up, which was great biggrin.gif

Feels hugely different, no?

A few days ago, had an alignment done, mostly to correct toe and caster. Expensive but worth it, the car tracks twice as well but still pulls to the right, apparently due to the negative camber on the left front wheel. Through a steady-state corner, the nose tucks in due to slightly less understeer and a lot more stable oversteer toward the limit. On-ramps are fun. First auto-x event on November 3rd.

I can't say, because this I don't get out there often enough, so this is the first time I have been out there since I went to the 17" wheels and I have taken a big downgrade on the tyres too (base model Yokohama Eco's that came on the rims, rather than the UHP Michelin Pilot Sport 3's I had on my 16's). All in all it felt quite balanced and I had a blast smile.gif I also still have the TRD front strut brace to put on too.

Haha, it was great! I only got a super quick drive around the block, and it was a suburban road so I didn't open her up properly past 2nd gear but it was an absolute blast - feels so wrong to rev it out so much..... but so, so right at the same time tongue.gif. Massive grins tongue.gif (And this is whilst the owner is talking it down saying that don't worry, its much better in the hilly bits). It was also very different to drive though as the car was lower, and the clutch was at least 100x heavier than mine and a few things just felt different (And looking out over a massive bonnet bulge tongue.gif).

I'm definitely keen to do the swap when I get back home from overseas (assuming I don't find a st205).

In saying that, I can definitely see why some people would prefer V6 or 3rd gen swap for the torque around town, because if you aren't paying attention it just becomes a 5S.... But I like my 5S except for the fact that it is no fun over 5k, and the Beams is the perfect solution to that problem (And it will be 20% more fuel efficient too tongue.gif).

Eastern time I should say. tongue.gif

*starts singing* "Oh where oh where has my torque gone? Oh where oh where could it be? With its passing others so short, and pulling hills so strong. Oh where oh where could it be?"

I can't get no sleep. *pizzicato strings sound in the distance*

.... I am in Eastern Standard Time tongue.gif Just going by the wrong (.... or should I say right wink.gif ) country's standard tongue.gif

Well 100k miles is 160,934 ish kms on my odometer - as long as its under 200k its still worth something here tongue.gif

I should have said that I almost bought another 6th gen on Saturday too - black SX-R (So 5S-FE with SSIII seats and dials for 5S, EOM 15" alloys and fog lights) with 236,000kms for $700. Needed suspension redone (previous owner cut coils) so plan was to get coilovers for me and put my stock suspension in it and resell.... but it was an absolute bomb when we inspected it - needed well over $1k in body work and paint before I would consider selling it (still would've worked out to free coilovers - but I have easier ways of making cash), and radiator had just cracked too, so would've been a pain to get home.

Since I have been hogging this thread a bit I should really add some photos tongue.gif

Much better tongue.gif

EDIT: Note I had just taken the spacers off the back in the morning too - doesn't look toooooo bad tongue.gif I don't want to roll my guards yet and I was getting sick of having to take it easy around bends to not scrub out tongue.gif

And a problem I had when I was heading out for my drive - I had just bought another full set of projectors and another set of JDM tails with the strut brace, and didn't want to smash them to pieces around the bends - so I fashioned a strap out of my laptop shoulder strap and connected one end to the child seat anchor point and slipped the other end through the rear seats and tightened it up... worked a treat! smile.gif

Haha, I was thinking of doing that later on for the same reason tongue.gif

Today I....

Step 1: Remove surrounding plastics.

Step 2: Unscrew blank:

Step 3: Screw in new ignition ring:

Step 4: Plug into wiring harness that is sitting under the dash waiting for you to get off your lazy a$$ and do this super simple mod;

Step 5: Clip plastic surrounds back on and enjoy:

SOOOO quick and easy tongue.gif I still need to get a blue LED for it though and take it back out again.

It is set up automatically to turn on with the door courtesy lights and turn off 5 seconds after door close.

And when I was there I replaced my shifter surround with a new one with JDM pocket (And one without stains from when I spilled a bottle of eucalyptus oil when I was removing my old rego sticker tongue.gif).

I wonder what the deal with Toyota and green lighting during the 80's and 90's was all about. It was nifty in the Supra, I suppose going for the digital look. By the 90's it was just weird.

Well, today Josh found some Caldina wheels that are within an hour of my house... The person listed them this arvo, for $300.
I texted them and negotiated down to $250. So, by sometime next week I should have a set of 17" Caldina alloys biggrin.gif

The best bit is, if I hate them, I can sell them for almost double the price I paid biggrin.gif
