Have you been clocked speeding before without getting a speeding ticket?

Did they give you points too?

You could show up to the court date and you MIGHT get the citation lowered. Or try talking to your local District Attorney and ask him/her for advice.

Otherwise for future reference i wouldn't drive more than 5 mph over the posted speed limit. Generally cops don't mind 5mph over so they don't pull you over but, keep your nose clean cause they will keep an eye on you since you were clocked.

Easy get a lawyer. Every state is different though check with one with good rep. If I'm not mistaken they do charge a consulting fee but if you stick with the lawyer it is with the bill. Lawyer here runs from 350 to 600.
And make sure to see if that is the final cost that should include court fees and any other fees your state charges. So no worries buddy.

I've had 4 last year 3 speeding and 1 passing in a intersection.
Lawyer drop 3 ended up with one point.
Got another last month in my celica...was profiled out of a group with vette. Now I'm going to take a hit on my insurance.
But don't forget they can only do soo much.
My theory is if you don't have heavy pockets don't have heavy feet.

It differs state to state...

Luckily you weren't in Georgia, I believe 25+ over the limit is an automatic felony...

Do 88 in a DeLorean and stop yourself from speeding in the Celica.

Lawyer up indeed. Expensive, but they might be able to reduce the fine for you.

I had a similar situation in which it was 97 in a 45 (construction zone). Luckily, the officer retired in between serving the citation and the court date.

definitely get an attorney. somebody who is local and does lots of business with traffic violations, he will already be well acquainted with the local judge.
it will probably cost you about Twice as much as just paying the ticket would, but you wont have so much trouble with your license and insurance n such.
