The problem with boosting the na 2jz is that you won't be able to push it the same as the gte since the internals aren't forged. (Granted this is what I read when I was 16.. 8 years ago. So you may want to check that before taking my word on it)

The difference is that the GTE has recessed piston tops to lower compresion, oil squirters, and the head is slightly different. Can get more than you'd ever need for the street out of it.

The issue that needs to be addressed is changing the HG to a TT HG with ARP studs. Then sorting out the manifolds and all the other BS.

why whould you have to ruin the car. ls1 belong in other cars, not a 1st gen celica. those are classic cars, from the early japanese era. that car needs to have a 18rg or a 2tg. At very best a 3tgte, but those are hard to find. but a ford or chevy engine does not belong there, its heresy..

The LS1 belongs in everything. It goes into classic Z cars, RX7's, anything domestic, 240SX's, Supras, etc... It's not like it's a 2000GT. Anyhow I'm sure you'd agree that it'd be better for it to live on with a LS1 than to sit in a field and rot. Even can keep with the same brand and use a 1UZ-FE and R154 or V60. If I were to acquire one that'd be the route I'd take, I'm giving the car a new life so I should be able to give it the life I want. If it's a numbers matching all original car, then yes keep it original. But if it's incomplete or the original drive-train is missing or beyond saving then do whatever you see fit.

1UZ then. tongue.gif I wouldn't mind a nice original example, but if I'm having to rebuild it and swap the drive-train anyway it's getting some power added to it. Ooh, I could get a first or third gen Celica... The second is just ugly, so it's out by default.

I agree with njccmd2002. The LS1 is a great engine but I don't want it in my Celica. If I ever build a first gen I would do a blacktop beams swap.
