Ok guys I've read up on a bunch of your swaps for awhile I wanted to do a full on gt4 conversion from at200 then I thought 1mz swap now I think I've leaned over the edge a little. Has anyone considered the feasibility of an LS swap? I've seen a few gt4 clips that come with the rear subframe and I bet someone out there has just the subframe layin around that they got with a clip. My thoughts on it are there are most likely more ls parts available versus toyota parts and many more tune shops specializing in ls versus toyota. I know custom driveshaft and I'll have to cut a trans tunnel and I've seen guys talking about Tacoma 2wd diffs but not sure exactly how that would work. Also I plan for my backseat to be be taken out and fabbing just a steel box for whatever maybe a fuel cell. Anything I'm missin any ideas?

If you want to LS swap something get a Miata or 240, or anything that's already RWD. Why reinvent the wheel?

Because racecar. It will be expensive. Lots of custom fab.... Why not just swap 1mz and enjoy. Unless you need a rwd car

Yeah, 1MZ it and call it a day. Then if you want RWD find something else to use.

The gt4 rear end is built to handle a decent amount of HP (or half of it anyways) but it wasnt built to handle 100% of the torque of an LS motor. Neither was the body of the celica, I wouldnt be surprised if you twisted the unibody or ripped the subframes off without some serious modification. Even the gt4 has a thicker floorpan to deal with the measly extra strain the awd 3s puts on the back. No offense but 50% of a 2.0Lturbo is not the same as 100% of a +5.3L V8

The motor probably weighs more, you will probably need to cut up the firewall and driveshaft tunnel, and you will need a custom steering rack.

you could always reinforce the body, thats why man invented welders. tough it will all be custom, and the only left from the celica will be the skin.

but it would be so cool. a couple years ago, i did not know much about all this stuff, and swallowed everything i read. However, now i think everything is possible.

Instead of looking at all the negativity of why something cant be done, why not look into what needs to be done for something to happen.

move the engine to rear, and use an audi v8. It would be so awesome to lift the hatch, only to see a v8 there....

Take the easier way out and make it RWD with the transverse AWD components. At least that's how I'd personally go about it.

Yeah but the problem is whether or not the gt4 rear end can handle it. Twice the strain because the front wheels arent connected and then 3 times the displacement engine. He will either destroy the differential or snap axles.

Never said anything about changing the engine, making an adapter let alone room would be a nightmare. It'd be easier to modify the gearbox than to do all the other things, who cares if it's transverse.

Someone did a full turbo 2JZ swap in a 7th gen Celica, they said all together they had a solid $15,000-$18,000 into the car.
