I"m thinking about buying a red '95 GT from a private party. They're selling it for $5 grand, but there's all sort of damages to the car. First, the leather seats are all messed up. There's wear and tear and cracks all over, it's not pretty. Second there's a long scrape mark on the side of the driver side which starts from the rear and ends at the driver side door, they covered it with a different red paint that does not match the car color. It also could be a crack instead of a scrape. Then there's a few chipped paint from the front because of little rock from driving. How much will it cost me to replace the seats and cover up the scrape/crack, also even paint the car to my favorite color, black? Is it worth buying?
ANy input is helpful... ![]() This post has been edited by Kaneda101: Feb 26, 2003 - 4:32 PM |

i don't know how much it would be to fix all that but you should ask them to lower that price of the car.

If they didn't take car of the interior or even the exterior can you imagine how the engine is?... if you get my point don't buy this car unless they knock off like 2000-2500 from the asking price and your a handy man who likes to fix things.

I would't pay that price either. it will take at least 1k to get it looking in shape. and there are those nickle and dime problems also...

Not for what they're asking. The interior is easily going to run you $400, the exterior could run you about $800 (or if your like me you'll do it your self). Given all this, there is no telling what the engine is like. If the engine is in good shape, I.E. seals good, wires don't seem brittle, no knocks or pings, and there is no leakage from the bottom, the most they could ask is $3500-3800 max. I'd say its time to haggle.
