Recently,
I've became fairly discouraged with this site. I get on the site multiple times every day, and each time I get on, I find all kinds of new stuff that irritates me.

Mindless, completely-useless posts in off-topic; non-related, stupid, or mean posts that ruin what would be good threads; topic titles that don't follow the rules in buying/selling that have been there for well over a year; people who only come to the site to cause trouble or irritate people; It all irritates me, along with the rest of the site's management.

We, the management of the site, think that lately the forums as a whole have gone a bit downhill, but we're curious what all of you think.

We're also curious as to what you all think should be done. Pete's in Japan and couldn't get in on the discussion of this idea, but Tim and I are considering changing the off-topic forum to be an "other cars" forum. That most likely won't happen, but we're sick of the completely pointless posts in off-topic. We all also are considering what to do about the people who constantly question others such as in the Lori Ann thread, and what to do about the people who constantly post pointless, off-topic stuff in the Celica forums, and what to do about the people who always post mean stuff on the site, and what to do about people who are mean to girls and treat them as if they've never talked to a girl before. I've had at least four girls talk to me and say that they didn't want to join the site or post in the forums, simply because of the way girls are treated on the site.

Tim is sick of it. John is sick of it. Pete is sick of it. I'm sick of it. Tim put it well when he said, "i feel like i havent left highschool yet when i go on 6gc..."

We're just wondering, what do you all think about what's happened lately, and what do you think should be done?

I agree with coomer, i have had issues with a member here for talking to my g/f in particular in a crude way. i think these violators should not be able to post on our website, done deal.

I really like the off topic section, it allows you to get to know other members of the board a little better. I haven't been here long, but what attracted me to the site was that it has the feel of an online "car club", which seems like a really cool concept. For someone who is often trapped at home with 2 kids and whose car is too pathetic to join an actual car club, it's a lot of fun and a great way to talk to people who may have the same interests...And in the the future possibly get together with the people in your area if a meet is scheduled. But of course, as with any conversation in person, who knows what you might end up talking about.
As a newbie, some of my etiquette might not be the best, but I only try to post things that I think might be entertaining or helpful to other people on the site. I will only post negative in fun, if it's a board member that I IM regularly and I'm friendly with. Also, as one of the few females posting on the site, I haven't encountered any problems with any of the guys, everyone has been very helpful and very nice so far. One suggestion I would like to make is to offer people a chance to post their ICQ# when they register, in case they can't figure out how to join a chat on AIM, it might open up another avenue for live chats and keep the board clutter down.

i had an idea about the integrating the faq/database section...would it be possible to have in each sub furum ie. engine performance, suspension etc..the faq section with those available parts then instead of another section inside that to post comments have a link that automatically searches the forum topics for threads on that part. That way you can find the part you want and then get the feedback from the regular posts from those who have it.

not a perfect idea but an idea none the less...

maybe you can have a section for new comers and kids. that way itll seperate the groups a bit.

keep the off topic because a lot of bored people just wanna talk about random stuff while satying on this site

you can also post the link on the chatroom on the main page so people can click and discuss right away.

also i think it's cool if the site has all the collected 6gc images section, like the one 0re0 posted.

the site could also include picutres for the spec section and maybe the photocopied chilton manual for people to learn.

hehe well those are my stupid suggestions that ill think might help a bit

I am looking for Celica related info. Stuff like what I can do with my car and what others have done. That's pretty much it. The off topic forum is what it is -> off topic, basically crap info with people looking for a laugh or wanting to vent.

6 gens are becoming older now and they are being sold and bought by people who want info on this forum. All of the sections should be just as they are but with members only posting Celica info. A FAQ section would be nice too so newbies don't get flamed everytime they ask what the flamers think is a dumb question.

Everyone has opinions. There is no way to stop someone from posting one that the mods feel are inappropriate and shouldn't be posted. Mods should promply clean that stuff up. If people feel the mods are doing a bad job them PM them and tell them why.

What is the mods job -> to make sure people follow the rules of the forums ? OK make good rules and stick by them.
