toyota paseo..., any one know about this car??? Options

So my gf is in the market for a car, her family has had 2 toyotas(96 carolla, and a 2003 matrix XRS) and she loves my celi and loved my supra, so she is aiming for a toyota for her first car. So she wants somethin small, sexy and sleek. She doesnt want a 6gc(i tryed talkin her into it), so she either wants a paseo coupe or a echo hatchback. But since the echo is still like $12K here and she has around $3500 i was thinkin paseo. Theres a bunch in good condition but with high km on it(220xxxkm +). So i was wondering if any one knew about these cars, specs, what motor they have, what motors they can handel, good for after market parts, etc... If some one could help that would be great.

I think they're basically a sporty version of the Tercel if you're familiar with that car. They've probably got a 4a-fe.

insurance is a b*tch here...plus only MR2s u can find are first gens(she laughs at them and she says it reminds her of mario kart), and 2nd gens are stupidly pricey..$7000-$12000 for non turbo.

Yea i was thinkin maybe do somethin like a beams 3sge if i could. Shez got the $ n she said she wants somethin fast and sporty lookin.

I think the Paseo actually might have a 5e-fe... as for the car itself it gets great gas mileage and is reliable. Plus that is definately a chick car since like 99% of people who bought the Paseo are women. Its a really spartan car tho so you might want to drive it first and see if you like it.

*That and the Paseo is nothing close to fast lol If you hit hills that car has no power and can barely make it up. I beat it in my 91 MPV and I max out at 45 going up a hill

Good solid car. Not a racer. Not really great for mods. Not hot looking. Great gas mileage (my bro has one, gets up to 40-42mpg freeway) reliable, not bad looking.

my friends paseo has a 5efe in it. but i dont know what else it may have came with.

All Paseos have the 5EFE in them, 100hp until OBDII ('96 and newer) where they went down to 93hp.

The 1.3 Turbo 4EFTE from the JDM Starlet GT is a direct swap that the Paseo guys like to do:

Thats an excellent choice. My cousin has one. JDM (called Cynos overthere) very nice car, great mileage, and it quite fast. My cousins JDM 1.6l keeps up with my curren.
