biggrin.gif I LOVE MY ST!!!
I drove mid 70s early 80s cars, so even
the stock STs 105 hp is good compared to a 75
Chevy Nova with a 5.0 liter producing the same
amount stock.

on the contrary, id be willing to say that the power is the least important option of the st vs gt choice.

the gt is just a nicer car overall, each of those "little dealer options" goes a long way when combined to create a more comfortable car.

sitting in an st and sitting in a gt might still be sitting in two celicas, but its definitly not the same to me, and ive sat in both.

List the glaring differences between the two, because I fail to really see any. I've sat in both as well, and, it's a clone of my ST with alloy wheels and rear disc brakes. I have power everything, leather interior, and all the extra crap on mine, it makes little difference which model you own.

he was saying the "small dealer options" mean nothing

im saying that most st's dont come with all of that stuff.

and im sorry, i just cannot take a car seriously if it has rear drums, its kind of like a girl with one boob wanting to be a porn star.

every time i look at the back of my car and see the lack of the gt badge a part of me dies on the inside, even with a 3sgte under the hood.

i feel nothing of this sort...maybe buy a GT badge?

QUOTE(brianforster @ Mar 26, 2006 - 8:29 PM)

not to mention i dont know many ST owners with a 3sgte that will keep the stock rear breaks, which is one of the main differences between the two cars.

i've still got the rear drum brakes tho im looking for a back disc brake conversion parts

I agree with this 100%..... people shouldn't act like a gt is far superior to a st because it simply isn't..... I have everything a gt has except a 5sfe.... and i'm content.... esp when you compare the gt to the four.... how would a gt owner feel after he gets bashed by a four owner

Yes, I did, and so far, you've mentioned a light around the keyring making the GT "better in every way" than the ST?

And I cant take someone seriously who believes that :

20 horsepower & torque
rear disc brakes in a car with less than 130hp
a light around the keyring
rear windshield wiper
and fog lights in later years

is a huge leap from an ST.

I've been a member of this site since it was created, and was on celica.net, so i've heard a lot. And i've seen this ST vs GT debate talked in to the ground, the bottom line is - it matters not what you get, it's the Celica part that counts.

its just my opinion ok, i am picky about my cars, did an extra 2 days labor on my car just to have stock power windows and door locks. and my doors are black while my car is red. id rather deal with that untill i can get a paint job than roll my windows down.

things like rear drums, manual windows, etc, make buying a newer car pointless, if i wanted no luxury options, id go classic car restoration, or be a honda boy.

the reason why i love the gt so much is that it looks great, and bone stock has every option youd ever need in a car.

im picky and neurotic about the GT vs the ST, no one is going to agree with me, and im fine with that, im just voicing how i feel

The best part is, you OWN an ST and you sit here & trash talk stuff about it. So, you're driving around a porn star with one boob. Good game.

People like you obviously forget that, and decide to make witless comments about something you know little to nothing about. Learn the differences between the two models before you decide to slop text on this forum, it might make you not look so bad in the future.

i know the differences dude, i know that sts have door reflectors in the bottom of the panel rather than open door lights, i know that the st does not have the light around the keyring, i know that the st was offered with manual windows and manual locks, and when you have these, your mirror controls are in the center of the dash next to the cigarette lighter and your door panels are different. there is no ST badge, cars without a passenger side badge on the back are ST or debadged. i know that the front brakes on the st are smaller than the gt (by a small amount but still smaller) i know that the ST's power steering resevoir is on the pump and not on the side of the car, i know that on the st the rear windshield whiper is not standard and i know that the ST stock steelies are 14" while the GT stock steelies (not the alloys) are 15".

oh and after all of that, the 5sfe is still more powerful, and it might not be a substantial amount of horsepower, but if you have driven both you should know that the ass dyno definitly registers the difference.

i've edited my post to seem less... annoyed.

Anyways, you're picking at straws with the differences, but whatever, it's your opinion, do not confuse that with fact and tell people things that arent true.

ST or GT, your still drive basically the same car.

i agree, when i sat down in my ST for the first time, even trashed (front bumper bent, headlights all screwed up, windshield shattered, airbags deployed, seats ripped and stained, armrest cover ripped, a NOS steering wheel cover and a don williams cassette tape in the radio) i still smiled and said "ive got a celica again"

Okay. This $hit is not that serious. Maybe Lagos was right. Now it seems that we have ST owners bashing ST owners!!! I think in terms of performance then it doen't matter if you have a GT or ST. Not TOO much. Luxury wise the GT is better but only if you don't have an ST with the extras. Dustin thank you very much for your GT4 comment. I never thought of it that way. Anyhow, lets just be happy we own a 6g because most people don't have the LUXURY to even buy an ST. Get it, luxury. laugh.gif Usually I' m not corny, but it seems to be getting hot on this post if you know what I mean.

OK this is getting dumb guys....

I have a 95 ST and a 95 GT.

all of the "little things" the ST doesn't have that the GT does can be added to the ST easily. The ST was made to be an economical vehicle - less hp, less standard options, getter mileage. The GT is the "sports" model with most of the standard options and hp. My ST and my GT have all of the options available for 1995 BTW.

if you are upset that your ST is slow or doesn't have options or whatever, either buy a GT or upgrade your ST. It is as simple as that.

for the record, I like driving my ST (w/header) better than my GT (stock)...why ? here we go...

the responce from my ST is better than the GT, my ST cloth seats are more comfy than my GT leather, my ST is quieter than my GT. I know my RPM band better in my ST, I know exactly what it can do and what I can do with it. The GT seems to me to rev too high...

when it is all said and done, just relax and drive your car.

edit: both have all options available except A/T biggrin.gif

guys, some of you are getting dangerously close to bashing other member's cars...

think before you type, do not show a lack of respect to other member's cars, we are all equal on this forum.

Don't forget only the GT came with the optional sports suspension package. That gave a huge edge to the GT.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
