i was jacking my celica up yesterday, i have the 94 gt with the suspension package and i notice when i was looking at the stock coilovers that. they come with Spring rubbers. im sure some of you know what these are, its funny cause i work on a late model race team up here in the north east and we use those for our shocks on the car. and all the rubber does is stiffen the spring. but anyways if anyone with this car didn't know that.. know u do. and if i think correctly if u pull all of the rubbers out of the stock coilovers it will drop the car, probably, Half inch if your lucky..... but it will screw up your camber and those kinds of things too so.... just thought it was interesting

FYI:yeh usually all cars now a days have coilovers. its not if u have dampening or adustable that makes it a coilover, all a coil over consists of is the shock or strust imbraced by a spring that is what makes it a Coil over, hense the name. smile.gif

the term is slightly interchangable but in teh aftermarket world its two things

STOCK = springs and shocks
aftermarket (height adjustable via 2 perches on a threaded sleeve) = coilover

Both of those are coilovers....coil over shock is all they are... Aftermarket performance ones are adjustable though smile.gif

thats not the point, whether or not which spring is on it. the point is there both coilovers and one is stock and one isn't. so they celicas do come with stock coilovers

not every car in the world has coilovers, most do now adays, the true aftermarket term for what many commonly call a coilover is an "adjustible coilover" such as the tein adj. coilovers etc. many vehicles like trucks and older cars have the solid axel with the spring going up to one mount point and one or more shocks going up to seperate mount points outside of the spring.
