so, im probably not a great mechanic but i was able to pull my axle , basically the snap ring wasent locked into place when my stepdad refurbished my old axle(hes a mechanic lol)... so i took matters into my own hands and removed the broken axle, tomorrow my new axle will be here... i got the putting it back in down,
my question is. any tips or things i need to do before i install the new axle? do i need to grease/lube any thing? thanks in advance Willy -------------------- Willy //2o9// California |

Put some grease around the part of the axle that goes into the tranny so that it doesn't damage the seal, other than that, make sure the snap ring snaps into place... and remember to refill the tranny afterwards

all you have to do is line it up by hand as best as you can. then you take a long flat head screw driver and a hammer and tap each side of the axel in.

so... i installed the axle, and it popped back out on the test drive, then the lugnut bolt broke off... so im 1 lug short... i hate my car

if the axle popped out then it wasnt in all the way, you'll feel it go CLACK when it snaps into place. get a brass hammer or a peice of wood and hold against the axlenut end of the axle and give it a good smack or 2 to knock it into place. i know my passenger side was difficult to snap in. if not, then try what lagos said, but try using a pry bar since it'll be longer and easier to hit.
