It's not like bad things don't happen in other places, you can't call us f*cked up because a shooting happened to take place here. It could have happened anywhere, including the United Kingdom.

Additionally, what's wrong with feeling like we're #1? Even if we aren't, who cares?


I'm not even sure why people sit there and debate gun control issues, someone will always have a gun, and someone will always die from a gun. Even if you destroyed each and every gun on the face of the Earth, someone would build one the very next day.

Alot of this relates to culture, I've taken a few criminology courses in my day and this is a common issue. I believe I remember the Japanese have a simple common attitude that if you carry a gun, you're not man enough to physically fight? If this is not true, I hope someone corrects this.

My roommate writes a collumn for a local newspaper that advocated conceal and carry on our local college campus with the argument that school shootings wouldn't occur on the basis that everyone is carrying a weapon. I disagree with him very strongly on this issue and when confronted by him requesting a better solution, I told him that I honestly have no viable solution. I then explained to him that I do not have to have a correct answer to a problem to know that other solutions are incorrect.

I do advocate gun control in public places, but at the same time I keep a remington 12 gauge pump action in a safe in my basement because I do believe in protecting what is mine.

I am by no means "country" but I do go hunting about once a year and the only gun I own is the remington I recently inherited from my grandfather

This combined with my big black truck would make kwanza think I'm compensating for having a small dick... which I don't really appreciate, and make some people think I'm some kind of ignorant bumkin American who is out of touch with society. I have shown pride in some form or another for my country all my life, I think 9-11
just reinforced it for a lot of people. Pointing at one group like you are superior in
some way is as narrow minded as saying guns kill and they should be outlawed. No I
don't drive around yelling yee-haw pointing guns where they shouldn't be if thats what
you would consider a redneck. I also stated I was in the military for 12 years, exactly
what have you done lately oh great patriotic one?

Edit: I am happy to listen to anyones views or opinions about guns, my view is that many
honest people own firearms and use them correctly, just like many people raise their
children well. A person that is law abiding will surrender there weapons if forced by law
to do so. The people who don't care about laws will continue to do so. I think it is a moral
issue rather than a simple fix by outlawing guns.

Claiming that some groups are superior to others is often a narrow minded way to look at things, but there are acceptions to this idea.

For instance, if I claimed that white people are better than black people

-that is incorrect because so many black people have contributed to society and they cannot be labled as ignorant or uncaring towards general society

It is not narrow minded when the definition of the social group being refered to is based in part on ignorance. The term redneck refers to an inferior individual who, although patriotic, lacks understanding of other peoples viewpoints.


What have I done for my country?

I have lived here all of my life and I would gladly lay down my life for this country and its ideals. How dare you call my devotion into question? I have not gone to war for my country because I was too young for desert storm and I believe that the current war is not worth the death of any American.

What's going on in Iraq needs to be changed, but we are not the one's to solve everyones problems. I would gladly give my life for my fellow Americans, but not for Iraq.

You need to realize that not everyone agrees with the war in Iraq. Our country has spent billions of dollars with no resolve for a country that is not our own, billions of dollars that could have gone towards education and health care for our own people.

Next time you call someones devotion into question, call their devotion into question under circumstances that endanger the homeland. I can guarantee you that I will stand side by side any American in the event we are ever in danger.

Further more, if you read my arguements, I do not advocate outlawing guns at all. I simply do not belive that everyone should be granted the right to bear arms. Although it seems an oxi-moron(denying rights), the right to bear arms needs to be restricted(and is).


I'm not going to turn this into some kind of pissing contest to see who is the most patriotic, but being patriotic is represented on many levels.

My flag is flown high everyday it is appropriate and you have no right to call an American, such as myself, un-patriotic. Being patriotic is protecting American rights, and you should be patriotic for that reason and that reason alone, not to say "look at me, I've done more for my country than you have" Do it for the right reasons and I will be patriotic and, if necessary, die for the right reasons.

i myself have not used one b4, a shottie that is, but it's probably best if you consult with an expert on this, cause all we're doing is confusing u and stirring each other up, but bear in mind thatshotguns are bulky and cause wide area damage, i think that any person would be scare if they had a gun pointed at them, but if u seriously consider getting one, the best option is to ask the experts, eg weapons instructors, police etc

I'm pretty sure that this .22 pistol would intimidate an intruder just as much as a shotgun would. Plus, the chances of killing them with this would be lower...of course that depends on where you shoot.

Anyway i keep a remington shotgun with a tac stock and barrel with heavy shot..and thats not effective as a defensive gun? 5ft from you your pattern is the size of a base ball 10ft a basket ball.. point shoot point shoot besides all i really need is my fav. form of protecting my valuable lawn furniture from frat boys

But other than that theres no way im gonna point a 22 at someone especially if they are armed as well i dont want to take the risk of them shooting back at me i mean who want to shoot some one 15 times before he goes down..I say go big or go home..A shotgun is great for home defnce aslong as its not a hostage situation. 12gauge plus birdshot equals point and shoot satisfaction...

waving your flag does not always equal devotion, it stands for alot of things such as pride. Just because you didn't fly your flag before 9/11 doesn't mean you weren't devoted.
