Im a new member, sry if i screw up! I have a 94 ST liftback with a sunroof. I went to close my sunroof one day and it went half way closed, made clicking noise and stoped. After further investigation, i found there was gear inside the motor that broke its teeth. I reseached a new motor, and will coast $400! My Body Shop price isn't much less. My question is, are any of the motors the same from a hatchback? or is the hole sunroof the same in a 96 GT?

Thanks for any helps.

Im thinkin about maken a custom manual window knob. Whitch i almost had made. I removed the shaft from the motor, drilled/tapped a hole in the end and put a window winder thing on it. it worked but the gear spun in the winder handle thing... more work planned!

All i would need is the motor, everything works fine except for the motor. And to kno there 400$ new, is a good reason sell a used one for 150$-200$. Got to find someone with a motor, before they read this post!

I kno of two hatchbacks in a junkyard, but i dont know whats the same in a hatch.

Not to hard actually. I had it oped and closed, using a hand to hold the handle and one to spin it.
IT COULD BE DONE. I would never have to worrie about a failing motor. And with the right knob(like a VW jetta knob), and some fiberglass... Im sure I could come up with a clean design. My interior light took a poop too, so I could replace it with some LEDs or something. It might be the first manual sunroof in a 6th gen.
