 JDM Power Folding Mirrors, A little confused |

So I didn't know if this would be exterior styling or interior wiring, so i put it here.
I don't quite understand the relay part of the whole set up. From what i understand after reading the 12 page how to you can wire them with out the relay. If you can wire them without the relay why is there such a big fuss over getting the relays? And why do i need one if i can wire it without it? I just got my set of power folding mirrors with the switches and plugs and will probablyy start working on getting them set up this weekend hopefully just looking for a bit more understanding.
