I had my right cv axle replaced a couple of weeks ago and when I went to pick the car up the ABS light turned on and stayed on. Les Schwab told me that the sensor was broken and would have to be replaced. I bought a sensor from Toyauto or something like that and installed it. Well the light went off when the car first starts but once i drive over 10mph the light comes back on. I took my car to Les Schwab to inspect the axle and discovered that the ABS ring was missing from the right axle but was on the left axle. Les Schwab says that the rings are taken off the old axles and put on the new axles. They also said that there was no ring on the old axle so thats why there was not one on the new axle.
"Toyota says they can only sell me the axle with the ring on it they cant sell just the ring and it will cost $500 for the axle" this is what the Les Schwab guy told me. So my question is: Where can I buy a replacement right ABS ring for my axle. Les schwab says that they will install it free of charge if I can get my hands on one. Is there a part number for it by any chance? It seems strange that toyota will only sell me the whole axle and not just the ring as they are supposed to just come on and off. Thanks! |

how could there be no rings on the old axle? your abs light would have been on prior to having the axle swapped.
the rings can't be purchased individually... -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

The light would come on and off while driving before the axle was replaced but that was because of the broken sensor. I wonder if they are trying to cover up their mistake of forgetting to transfer the ring onto the new axle? |

i was suspecting the same... What should i do? They say that they are searching for the ring in salvage yards and other places because they say the ring comes right off the axle. I emailed the guy at Toyauto who i bought the speed sensor from and hopefully can get a reply. Even if the ring was on the original axle and they forgot to put it on the new one, how will i prove that it was really on the original axle? |

I think you should just go for a jobber axle. its roughly around a hundred, and they always come with a ring (check in case lol)
it may not be like Toyota quality but I you could save yourself a whole lot of trouble. *to remove an abs ring without damaging it very hard IMO -------------------- ![]() |
