4th Annual Texas 6GC/Toyota Meet/Austin Hillcountry run, June 13th - All Toyotas welcome Options

It's getting about that time again and as I said in the last thread I don't wanna try to have this in the dead middle of the summer. On the other side of the coin I don't want to try to have it while some of you are still in school so I'm gonna go ahead and tentatively set the date for June 13th with an optional rollover for the 14th for anyone who wants to stay over night and do it again the next day before heading home. If there is interest in that I will take the time to get some hotel quotes and try to set something up. I for one would rather sleep in Austin area rather than drive home after having driven this somewhat grueling course all day.
Austin will be the official location as usual with the run from Marble falls back into south Austin as we have always done in the past. This is due to Austin's centrallized location and it's incredible hills and twisties we've all come to enjoy so much.

When: June 13th, 2009 with an optional second day of 6/14/09
Where: Austin Country - specifically Marble Falls, Tx
Who: Anyone with a Toyota/Lexus/Scion but specifically for Celicas [Anyone with any car may show as long as your cool and know how to drive responsibly around other's pride and joys]

As I said before, the scedule is just one I threw out there. You will notice next to my name I posted the dates I will be free and that I am flexible enough to change if need be - please do the same so that we can keep track of who can go when and setup the actual date to acommodate the largest group of attendees
Now I know some of you that have come in the past have now moved on from your Celicas but it would be retarded of you to think that you aren't welcome back just because you no longer drive a Celica - bring the new beast and let's see how it stacks up.
Also I need anyone who kept their map from the Supra cruise late last year to scan and post it up or else to send it me and I will do it for you.

well everyone, Vadar just doesn't want to come down to Austin.
we've been working on him all week & we've got some serious problems with him now.
i'm unsure if the engine is totally gone or not yet - gonna look at it tommorrow nite - just am too tired to fool with it right now.
i'm disappointed we can't come down in Vadar this time, but he can barely even idle much less make the trip.
what makes it so bad is this prob came out of nowhere so we have to backtrack all our steps, everything that was touched to attempt to find the problem.
i have a sneaking suspicion the headgasket may have blown, but we'll fool with him later

SO >>> we're still coming, we'll just be in R2.
we got on the FRP front hood & rear trunk lid, so he lost a few pounds since last time around.
he's still primer grey + peeling black maaco paint & not the prettiest to look at, but he ain't exactly the slowest either.

P.S. A teal MKII MR2 turbo is also coming down from DFW
seems we'll have a real mixture of toyotas this time around.

Just FYI be careful on any of the major arteries into Austin-I-13, 290, Hwy 71, etc...Austin PD has added 20 patrol cars for just this weekend. Over 200,000 harley bikers flooding Austin. Luckily, they shouldn't be in any of the areas we'll be that could make it dangerous.

Thanks, we both appreciate that. Got a lot of testing to do first to see what the real prob is after the meet.

R2 is a lot of fun & so trouble-free.
I can safely say I'll never own another 3sgte - that motor is the biggest PITA for a 4 banger

I got a ticket today in the camry for expired inspection so we're gonna get him inspected tomorrow then go to court to try to get that cleared up.
It's the 1st time I've ever been pulled over for anything by a cop & this one was a real a$$hole that wasn't gonna let me off for anything in this world.
I was going to try to paint R2's front bumper, but now I won't have any time b/c of this fcuking ticket.
I swear if one more thing goes wrong tommorrow we're just staying home all weekend.

Depending on where you are coming from. Most of the cops are downtown or on 290 East. Tomorrow they'll be out patrolling the major arteries. If you're coming from Dallas you can take Loop 1 or Toll SH 45 to 183 to avoid I-35.

hope everyone made it home safe & sound & are enjoying the a/c @ home - i know we are.
the heat really started to get to me & sorry if i got a little b!tchy.

we had a great time on the roads even if they were a little clogged with other traffic the routes this time around were better than ever.
the tight turns & elevation changes were just amazing.

it was great seeing everyone again & meeting new people too
