Alright. I have a 94 St with a frankensteined 7a-fe/4a-fe motor in it. I say that because I took the good parts from a 7a and 4a to make one good motor. The motor that came out had over 200k on it, and these two both had around 80-90k. That all took place in about March-ish. The car has been running good since then, besides the occasional small issues. The other day when I was driving, the oil light started flickering on and off

you'll need to hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge to see whats really going on, you could just have a bad oil pressure sender.

i do have an oil pressure guage, and occasionally my oil level light comes on, since i know i have oil pressure and plenty in the sump i figure its a sender issue, when the light stays on for a prolonged period of time and the light begins to annoy me ill change it. Let us know a rough price if you get one.

on a cold start my oil light will stay on for 3-4 seconds. its very agonizing for me worrying about my just rebuilt motor. i might have to invest in a oil pressure gauge.

ok. so its been a while since i posted anything on here. but i did figure out my problem. and totally kicked myself in the ass....
when i put the motor back together, i put my 7a head on a 4a block. it worked. but the oil pan on the 7a is a 2 piece, 4a only 1. so the 7a is bigger....... aannnnddd i used the 4a dipstick..... sooo yeah. you see, what had haaappppened was... just didn't have enough oil in it..... its ok to laugh. i am lol. but thanks to all who replied. |
