I absolutely love the body and style of the celica, but i really hate most bodykits besides the gt4, the only thing i would do to my car is put the rear splitters on and find a really small front lip from a different car. i just think the celica has a really bubbly and round body style which is great but most the kits are too sharp and edgy. again just a personal opinion, i dont want to offend anybody with a body kit

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder mate.
I for one never got excited over gt4 look. A celica could be driving completely stock but it will look exactly like any kind of other celica out there. When one makes a decision to modify a car the goal is to make it look different. Here is an example. Take your stock celica and drive it by a group of teenagers. Yes they will keep on texting. Take your car and make it look like a gt4 and drive by that same group of teenagers. Only one will raise his head. Take your car and put a body kit on it and watch all of them look at you and follow your car. Purpose of any body kit is to turn heads. If that is not what you are looking for then you do not need a body kit. Waaay back when in early days of this decade I had a black coupe celica with huge white rims and a huge yellow dragon decal and invader body kit... many here condemned my idea and yet I was the talk of many college students at Rutgers University. More so... I inspired others to also get decals and modify their cars... Not like I was looking to make myself become some sort of godfather of decal technologies but having attended Rutgers 2003-2007... never once have I received a negative comment. -------------------- Captain Pessimist

But I also kinda agree with yarik83. One example - I hate the look of Celicas without any side skirts. Almost any side skirt is better than none. I also think we are fortunate to have such a range of bodykits with new products still popping up occassionally (10-15 years after the cars rolled off the production line). Work out what you like and do that. The euro splitters are a simple and subtle addition to the front. You could paint them the same colour as the bodywork as some have done on here, for a more unique look. Or you have the Toms lip or JDM splitters for a slightly more agressive stance. As an alternative to the rear JDM splitters, there are a couple of different limited edition Toyota option rear one-peice splitters that are quite subtle. One was an euro option, the other was a New Zealand/Australia option. For the tailgate, take a look at the Celicas without a spoiler at all, those with the (doggy?) duckbill spoiler. Then there is the two-post with no risers, with euro 1/2 height risers or with the GT-4 full-height risers (the later with no graphics, with GT4 graphics or with SS-III graphics - or of course something of your own design). Or the facelift 3-post spoiler. This post has been edited by BloodyStupidDavey: Nov 22, 2009 - 12:59 PM -------------------- Davey

Yes I agree. Most of the time, body kits will make a perfectly good Celica look like a ricer even if thrs not it's intention. It's too much on a car with a relatively simple curved body style
now, I do think you can us aftermarket parts and have it look classy. I've seen Celicas here that would fit that bill. Howe er, outside of a highschool or college crowd, a pumped out Celica is just going to get eyes rolling. I think the oem side skirts and lips look great though becasue it really seems it's supposed to go with the car. I like to find a happy medium. I don't mind using after market parts as long as it's done with taste and class. That, and that alone, is when you'll get EVERYONE'S head to turn and smile. -------------------- ![]() |

If that is not what you are looking for then you do not need a body kit. I agree with you on some parts, but not this. My aim never has been and never will be to turn teenager's heads. I simply don't care, and I certainly won't slap on a bodykit to get there. Having said that...my mantra is OEM is best. And I'm not talking about bone stock from the factory, I'm talking GT-4 bumper/hood/risers, SS-III splitters, JDM tails, etc. But individuality is also the key to this great humanity of ours, so those that choose other things...more power to them. ![]() This post has been edited by SwissFerdi: Nov 22, 2009 - 2:33 PM -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Yeah i think the design is perfect, and like castrol said a happy medium is what im looking for, like i said i do want to put some rear splitters, and a front lip, just not the celica lip, and i would never do it to impress kids in high school, and i am a kid in high school. its just for my self satisfaction. just to make my car fit me.
i've mentioned this post before but here it is again " Celica from Spain ". i think the small front lip is a perfect addition, its not too much but it adds that little something thats missing, at least for me. |

^ You're right, and those rims look great too. All it needs is side skirts and a drop, sleek perfection.
And not to promote my car in any way...but I'm going simple with it (in light that I might be getting a real ST205 in the future, I'm not going GT-4). Splitters, maybe a hatch spoiler, and a drop. A few other yet-to-be-revealed touches...and maybe an SS-4 bumper, if I ever do paint. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Nothing wrong with wanting medium.
But err... Classy is a broad definition and most broad definitions are a very vague term of describing what people like or dont like. I have yet to meet a person older than myself that loves celicas. I have yet to meet a person older than myself who could identify what kind of car I drive (since I dont have any badges on my celi). If I put a mitsubishi sticker on or a honda or a subaru or whatever.. they would think that my car was that car. Not to say they would like it more or less... its just most people have no idea what celica looks like outside of junker late 80's celicas or the newer 2001+ models. I think that whatever rocks your boat.. you should stick with that... but no matter what you do you are doing it for others and not yourself. You can persuade yourself otherwise but in reality when sitting inside your car it does not matter what color it is or how big your wheels are or if you have sparkly dangling things on your antenna because you can't see it from inside and you don't spend 16 hours of your time looking at your car anyways. Think of your car as a chunk of clay that you can mold into anything that you like. Except that anyone over age 30 will give you "rolling eyes" regardless of what you do to it... unless of course your car looks like 300,000,000 other cars that drive on the road and in that case they wont notice it at all. Sorry, but you're dead wrong (in my case). I don't modify my car for anyone else. Like you said, nobody knows what I drive. So I appreciate it when people give me a compliment on the car of course, and I appreciate it even more when they know what I'm driving (like when a guy in a 5GC gave me a thumbsup). But I'm doing this for me, not to impress people. Sure I like when people look at my car, but I don't aim to add style to my car to impress others. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Ahh ferdie ferdie, you have much to learn young padawan.
Pretty soon you will find yourself submerged up to your ears in celica modifications. It always starts slow and then you get this one little part... one insignificant little part... and a year later you will have 20 little parts and a year after that you will get one big part and a year later you celica will look very different. He he he Its just how things are. -------------------- Captain Pessimist

i am having a very hard time deciding on a kit.
i think the gt4 wing is ricey, don't care if it is oem. splitters look good from side, but look stupid when the side skirts are a couple inches off the ground and the middle of the bumpers (especially rear) are like a foot off the ground. these are nicest combos IMO: gt4 hood/bumper, eurou front lip, trd/404 skirts, eurou/c-one rear c-one front, trd/404 skirts, eurou/c-one rear aeromagic lip on 94/95 bumper, trd/404 skirts, eurou/c-one rear eurou lip on 94/95 bumper, trd/404 skirt, eurou/c-one rear whole varis kit is nicest for sure, might be worth the $5000 This post has been edited by Promasta: Nov 22, 2009 - 7:13 PM |

Yarik...i dont even know what to say...its your opinion...goodluck with it..
Honestly when i see a car with huge rims, stock suspension, and more stickers than i can count i look that the person and laugh and turn around.Im not going to give them the satisfaction of looking at there "ricer".However if a car were to be lowered on nice aftermarket rims with a rumbling(not farting) exhaust drive by i would stare at it and smile. Its your car,do what you want with it,i dont care as long as u dont tell me how awesome it is.. -------------------- BANNED. for life, you moron.

When you give people respect for their work, regardless of what it is, you give them confidence and earn yourself some credibility. Calling someone "ricer" implies that you do not respect their work...
I know plenty of people who throw around that term as if it was a part of English language. Like Bambi's mother used to say: "When you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all". -------------------- Captain Pessimist

Malpaso's front end is how all Celicas should look in my opinion, I don't know why, but I love how that one looks. #1 in my book.
