Instead of all of this work for a 3s, why don't we take a 2gr+6sp or auto with paddles and stick that in the ft-86. Instant winner.

Both sides strike some great points, im a 3s loyalist, and can not speak on any subie let alone any AWD since ive never driven one, but whats this i hear about the subie turbo boxer motor being fuel effecient?! i thought they sucked at gas mileage!

My wrx regularly gets 25mpg. On a trip from Seattle to Bend, OR I got over 30mpg.

Click here ~! my thing has always been about taste, from your comments sounds like you really love your Subaru, and that's great, but for obvious reasons others love the 3Sgte engine, when you consider the amount of technology that car manufacturers have incorporated on their cars / engines design in the last decade, and realized that the 3SGTE is an outdated design and still performs up to the task, is just fair to give recognition and not look down on those who want some more of it. I personally don't like Subarus as a car for me to own, but they are great cars, fast, affordable and reliable, my brother loves them and so do a lot of my friends who own them, but when they test drove my car, they were impressed but its performance and without argument a few of them agreed that my car would be faster ( we didn't race ) at the end of the day is not about who owns the best car, but who can make the best out of what it has. I get ~ 28 mpg, I drive my swapped car every single day ( 90 miles round trip ) and of course that's with occasional boost, with no reliability issues. am I saying 3sgte is a better engine than those in STIs ? nop, but I will say that a STI engine wouldn't make me happier. -------------------- ![]() |

Corolla WRC came in after the ST205 ban.
I can already see upcoming release of the FT86. First of all, It will most likely be a Scion brand car here in North America and Toyota everywhere else. Scion just made it to Canada and the sales for these cars are weaaaaakkkkkk to say the least. Scion's target market is the youth (19-27) and so the FT86 is a suitable car in Scions line up. FT86 will be priced under 22k and won't any higher then 30k fully loaded. The FT86 only has its RWD and light weight savings going for it. An NA boxer with under 200hp is still pretty weak. I think the Subaru variant will be the one we should all be looking forward to! 3SGTE AWD in an FT86... I'd rather buy an Evo with that money hahaha -------------------- ST205 WRC

![]() a 3SGTE 4WD FT-86 GT FOUR would only be like 5-8 grand more and I guarantee you would hand the EVO its ass on a platter seeing as it will be putting out 400HP no need for a computer for ever wheel just good ol plain 4 wheel violence and WRC 2011 rules say no more computers so its pretty pointless unless your planning of going to a non WRC rally... I would love a REV happy 3SGTE = since the 3sgte is only REV cheery and not happy since it loses a bit of power but VVTi would fix this and rev happy 4wd means drifting through corners = what WRC Fans LOVE...now i gotta find MONSTER and the useless rally driver ken block and make him stunt the hell out of it... -------------------- |

B) if you want the AWD turbo version......Subaru will be putting their own version of the FT-86 out (as it IS a joint production car) and it is rumored to be AWD and boosted.... Toyota's version is not. ![]() i haven't chimed in for many post so i'll make this quick~ A 3s is quite the motor, dont get me wrong. But to bring it up to speed with the ever-so changing world, it would no longer be a 3s where it counts. probably wind up being a 9age or some crazy **** like that.... The ZZ line is semi-**** when it comes to boost. Yes they can take it, And yes the HP is based on a varying power graph. they *would fail on teh lower end, witch is why the 2zz based on the lower end ...... untill the big cam kicks in (targeted to work on teh higher end). But in teh end any boosted 7th gen owner will cry "bearings". (trust me, i've had to deal with these guys) Did i just say end like a million times? lol Toyota IS aiming at gas efficiency. End of story. Scion is trying to keep control of the younger market, and not doing the best job. Not with 350z's running 10-15 used. and the ever so fun line of 370z's. (just as a quick example) lexus is competing with luxury. (having a gawd damn fist fight with BMW ATM) So they most likely wouldn't badge it in the US. My turn to chime in.
As great as it would be to see toyota kickin ass and takin names in the WRC, it wont happen anytime soon. Why would they want subaru to do or even look bad in the WRC when toyota technically owns over half their stock. Would be like shooting yourself in the foot. Secondly the subaru version of the ft-86 will be RWD. I think i posted that in the FT-86 thread, if not i can find it and show it for those interested. Secondly as an AVID and very strong subbie hater, i have driven both a GC8 and my GT4. The subbie's short gearing allows for a great and fun drive in a straight line, but in the corners it is too much work shifting up and down all the time just to keep the revs up. The subbie also has a great range of veiw and and is way easier to see out of than the GT4. But.............but........the GT4 wins hands down in handling. OMG it handles freakin awesomely, and in the corners, i tend to only use 2/3 gear as opposed to 2-5 with the subbie. Also the GT4 is bullet proof, transmission and engine both. I have beat on my poor engine and transmission so much, and when i did the same with my friends subbie...poor tranny broke... I mean, the GT4 was a great car for its time, and if they wouldve continued more iterations of it, im sure it would be good in this day and age......but i doubt there is any hope of another celica gt4.. -------------------- (\__/)
